100 Monkeys

September 22, 2019 //  by Lynn//  Leave a Comment

The 100 Monkeys are a party/covers band with a funky repertoire spanning 6 decades. From Queen to The Manic Street Preachers, Fleetwood Mac to Alanis Morrisette and Marc Cohen to Madonna… there’s something for everyone! They were created in 2014 by local musician, and

Director of Haywards Heath’s Rok Skool, Leon Kaye. The now established line-up of friends work hard to re-create some of our favourite dance floor-fillers, as well as many long-forgotten classics it’s great to hear performed live. “It’s all about melody and groove when it comes to choosing songs to cover”, says Leon. They certainly do pack a mighty harmonic punch!

The Cover Up

September 22, 2019 //  by Lynn//  Leave a Comment

The Cover Up is a 4 piece covers band. We seem to specialise in 50th birthday parties – maybe that’s just showing our age – but we are available for any type of party/gathering where there are people who’d like to dance, sing, listen to live music and have a good time.  For all the band members being in The Cover Up isn’t the ‘day job’.

It’s a means of entertainment and our view is that if we are having fun our audience will have fun too!

Our set list covers a wide range of songs that show the band members’ eclectic musical taste.  From funk to rock to pop….. and back again and our main criteria when choosing a new song is ‘Will this get people onto the dance floor?’.

Newick Folk

September 22, 2019 //  by Lynn//  Leave a Comment

Newick Folk play the music of these islands. This means mainly traditional music plus anything else that takes our fancy. That could range from Lily the Pink and My Old Man’s a Dustman to the themes from Captain Pugwash or Blackadder and maybe even Rave on / Bye Bye Love or the La Mer. We set out to entertain you and we love it when people get up and dance. We play at lots of Ceilidhs for Weddings and significant birthday events where there is a wide range of ages.

We are based in Newick and play many local events and sessions throughout Sussex with occasional ventures to Kent, Surrey and the nearer bits of London

Band of Dads [BOD]

September 21, 2019 //  by Lynn//  Leave a Comment

B.O.D. (Band of Dads) is a collection of Dads from Cuckfield, West Sussex, with a penchant for rock sprinkled with a little punk, pop and ska. Their wide-ranging age and experience delivers an eclectic and crafted set that seamlessly (sometimes) switches between Green Day, T. Rex, The Kaiser Chiefs, Chuck Berry, Blur, The Specials, Kings of Leon, Pulp and much more. Their DJ also spins funk, soul and disco between sets to keep the party going.

They all hold down responsible jobs which they balance with the irresponsibility of playing music loudly and jumping around like loons. If you want a party that raises the roof with great songs played with passion and humour, you need B.O.D. By the way, B.O.D. are keen supporters of local charities. They play for fun and donate all profits to local good causes. What a lovely bunch of lads.

Rusty Monday

September 21, 2019 //  by Lynn//  Leave a Comment

Rusty Mondays are a bunch of mid life crisis fuelled Lindfield based old rockers.  They masquerade as an alt punk/rock 5 piece covers band, with Brilliant Baz on Bass, Dazzling David on Drums, Legendary Lloyd on Lead, Eccentric Ed on electro-acoustic, and, er, Jammin Jase on Vocals.  There has been talk of Jase changing his name to Vic if they make it big!

They burst onto the scene at LAF’17 and have toured widely throughout the village since then.  They are now back for more, and promise to be loud and angry – in a very middle aged English home counties kind of way.

Double duos

September 21, 2019 //  by Lynn//  Leave a Comment

Double Duos is a unique combination of four instrumentalists mainly performing repertoire from the “Golden Age” of shows from the 1920s to the 1950s, but also some later items in the style.

Two clarinets/saxophones, a horn and a double bass recapture the glamour and excitement of the periods through special arrangements written specifically to exploit the strengths of this ensemble.

Double Duos delivers a warm and varied sound, which brings versatility to the performances.
