Art Exhibition

Art Café

On Sunday 22nd September Lindfield Art Studio will be opening their doors so that Festival visitors can enjoy an Art Café and DJ Set between 11.00am and 3.00pm.

Homemade cakes and refreshments will be served in the Studio Garden and Art will be on sale all day. Exhibiting artists will be there to chat to and relaxed soft funk music will keep the atmosphere relaxed and chilled.

The Open House will be running a raffle for an art gift from one of the amazing artists at the Studio and a free Prosecco hour for adults to enjoy between 1.00pm and 2.00pm.

Free Workshops at 11.30am and 1.30pm too.

We look forward to welcoming you to our Open House!

Shelley Morrow

Shelley Morrow is a figurative artist based in Brighton where she runs life drawing classes and workshops. She specialises in watercolour and hand embroidery often seeking out the movement and gesture of a pose rather than a representational likeness.  Shelley exhibits regularly across U.K. and will be displaying her work at Lindfield Primary Academy on Saturday 21st September from 10.00am to 5.00pm and Sunday 22nd September between 10.00am to 4.00pm as part of the 2019 Lindfield Arts Festival. Telar de Luna

Fibre artist Jess McGahan set up Telar de Luna to create bespoke handwoven artworks. Often using photographs taken whilst travelling, Jess is inspired by nature and, in particular, coastal scenes. First introduced to textile art through hand embroidery when studying at Durham University, Jess has a City and Guilds Certification in Hand Stitch. Drawn to texture and warm colour palettes, Jess is able to work on a commission basis on small to large scale pieces.

Her work will be displayed at Lindfield Primary Academy on Saturday 21st September from 10.00am to 5.00pm and Sunday 22nd September between 10.00am and 4.00pm. More examples of her work can be found through her Instagram here or bought through her Etsy shop here.

Jo Hodder

Jo Hodder is an artist who has been painting from her home in Sussex for over thirty years. Jo paints a variety of subjects and enjoys all mediums, including acrylic, watercolour, oil, pen and mixed media. Her versatility leads to a high demand for commissions such as portraits, landscapes, family homes and animals, and her more experimental impressionist work has received international acclaim.

Hilary Kennett

Hilary is a conceptual artist who creates installations, prints and collages. Her practice observes different kinds of spaces and the everyday that happens in them, and encourages the audience to examine their surroundings from a different perspective. She is a member of the Lindfield Art Festival committee and will be exhibiting her work on Saturday 21st September from 10.00am to 5.00pm and Sunday 22nd September between 10.00am and 4.00pm at Lindfield Primary Academy as part of the 2019 Lindfield Arts Festival. Abi Street Glass Studio Ltd.

Abi Street is a glass landscape artist creating kiln-formed and flame-worked glass panels. She is interested in exploring how working in glass, as a painterly medium, can contribute to the depiction of depth, texture, luminosity and the mercurial nature of the natural landscape. Abi’s work will be exhibited at Lindfield Primary Academy on Saturday 21st September from 10.00am to 5.00pm and Sunday 22nd September between 10.00am and 4.00pm as part of the 2019 Lindfield Arts Festival. Megan Snyders

Megan is an artist and illustrator based in Lindfield. She uses watercolours, ink and pencils to explore the world around her and to illustrate stories. She is interested in how colour and line work together to express emotions and narrative. In 2018, she began to study writing and illustrating children’s picture books, and she supplements her imaginative drawing with regular life-drawing classes and trips into spaces where she can sketch from life to her heart’s content.

Megan will be exhibiting her work at Lindfield Primary Academy on Saturday 21st September from 10.00am to 5.00pm and Sunday 22nd September between 10.00am and 4.00pm as part of the 2019 Lindfield Arts Festival. Nicola Baker

Nicola Baker is a local artist who works in oil, acrylic and mixed media and is primarily concerned with colour and form.  She works from her own detailed drawings and photographs of both landscapes and people, and produces vibrantly coloured pieces in varying degrees of abstraction.

Her work will be displayed at Lindfield Primary Academy on Saturday 21st September from 10.00am to 5.00pm and Sunday 22nd September between 10.00am to 4.00pm as part of the 2019 Lindfield Arts Festival.

Irene Burns Artworks

Irene Burns is a local Lindfield resident and artist who gathers inspiration for her paintings from a variety of sources including landscapes, skyscapes and seascapes of Sussex, Scotland and Greece. Liminal spaces and ‘dynamic edges’ have become her personal fascination. In her artwork, she creates an evocative and dramatic atmosphere – allowing the observer freedom for their own interpretation.

Sue Pearson

Sue Pearson is a textile artist that creates her own small pictures, scarves, bags, and jewellery by wet felting, which combines different coloured unspun wool fibres with natural fibres such as silk alongside olive oil soap and water which are then all worked together on a textured surface. This produces a diverse, flexible and individual felt which Sue then transforms into various forms depending on her inspiration.

All items Sue produces are handcrafted and she will be exhibiting her work on Saturday 21st September from 10.00am to 5.00pm and Sunday 22nd September between 10.00am to 4.00pm at Lindfield Primary School as part of the 2019 Lindfield Arts Festival.
