Portrait drawing workshop with Tommy Golunski

Library, King Edward Hall, Lindfield

Book your places for this excellent portrait painting workshop. Tommy regularly teaches at The Art Academy in London, and has completed several demonstrations and live paintings in the past. Workshop includes all materials.

Thomas Golunski is a contemporary figurative artist based in the south of the U.K. Focusing mainly on the immediate impression and urgency of capturing the effects of illumination through the manipulation of intuitive mark making.

Swoovathon

Come and Swoove for one or two hours to raise money for Lindfield Primary Acadamy on Sunday 22nd September from 2.00pm-4.00pm in the William Allen Hall at Lindfield Primary Acadamy.

Swoove means to sing, whoop and move and is a singalong exercise class. You’ll have fun, burn some weekend calories and raise money for our wonderful village school.  There will also be a face painter and cakes for sale to keep the little ones entertained!

The event will only cost £5.00 per hour or £3.00 for people aged 15 and under.

This event is suitable for all ages and abilities.

Face painting will also be available at only £2.00 and there will also be cakes available to by from 50p.

Brett Hudson: Drawing workshop

Brett Hudson will be basing the demo on his Lindfield Life paintings, and will talk to people about how he gets his ideas, show sketch books and other paintings.

To finish he will draw a large picture from scratch to show how he draws people and houses, hopefully giving people an insight into the process of creating a Lindfield Life painting.

An introduction to Mindfulness with Ed Halliwell

This one-hour introduction to mindfulness, led by Ed Halliwell of Mindfulness Sussex (mindfulnesssussex.co.uk) will include a taste of some key mindfulness practices, experiential group inquiry and discussion, and presentation of the science of and rationale for mindfulness.

We will look at what mindfulness is and how it can be beneficial, explore some practices that can help participants become more present, develop helpful responses in stressful situations, and manage thoughts, emotions and body sensations more skilfully, and also look at the science of mindfulness for cultivating mental and physical health, managing demands, improving self-regulation and resilience, and cultivating strong relationships.

The session will also examine how to develop a personal mindfulness practice and bring mindfulness into the midst of daily life.

Presenter Biography: Ed Halliwell is “one of the UK’s leading mindfulness instructors and writers” (The Guardian). He is author of Into The Heart of Mindfulness (2016) and Mindfulness: Made Easy (2019), as well as co-author of The Mindful Manifesto (2010).

Ed leads public mindfulness courses, workshops and retreats in London, Surrey and Sussex, and has also introduced and taught mindfulness in more than 50 organisations, including Imperial College Business School, BBC Worldwide, the Houses of Parliament, Tate, Accenture and Ardingly College.

He is an associate of the Oxford University Mindfulness Centre, and a trustee of and former co-director of The Mindfulness Initiative, which supports the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Mindfulness (MAPPG) to develop mindfulness-based policies for the UK. His website is www.edhalliwell.com.

Weaving Workshop with Jess McGahan

This introduction to loom weaving workshop is open to adults and children. This workshop will be led by local fibre artist, Jess McGahan on Sunday 22nd September from 10.00am to 1.00pm in the King Edward Hall Library.

Using a selection of fibres, adults will learn how to create a bespoke woven wall hanging, focussing on the basic techniques of tapestry weaving. Children will be taught to make a colourful, one of a kind bookmark of their own design.

All attendees will be provided with a craft loom which they will be able to keep to continue their weaving projects at home.

Materials will be provided to inspire your designs.

Floristry Workshop

This will be a floristry workshop,run by local florist Christine Bulman, teaching people how best to arrange flowers in a vase.  You will get to keep the vase and flowers and will also learn tips on how to get the most from your flowers, conditioning etc.

About Lindfield: Did You Know….

To pursue his interest in local history, Richard Bryant formed the Lindfield History Project Group with a small group of like-minded residents in 2004.

The aim being to unlock and share the history and heritage of Lindfield.

This not too serious talk reveals snippets about the village and its people in centuries past, which are perhaps little known and even surprising.

It will appeal to new and long-time residents and visitors alike.

Lindfield Folk Dancers

The Lindfield Folk Dancers will be giving a folk dancing demonstration followed by a folk dancing workshop for everyone to join in and learn some moves. The dances are usually performed as couples starting from a variety of formations and comprise a combination of standard moves. Come along to the United Reform Church Hall on Saturday 21st September between 1.30pm and 2.15pm and learn a new skill from the Lindfield Folk Dancers!

African Drummers
