A very hungry caterpillar

September 2, 2019 //  by Lynn//  Leave a Comment

Can you help make one?

Book now, space limited

Come along to the Articulture Workshop to enjoy a fun, creative morning for kids!

Art with a horticultural theme for kids. A hands on painting workshop for children from as young as 3 years old. With some simple tuition and a little help from the ‘garden gang’ (and maybe mum or dad) children can produce awesome pictures of trees and flowers to take home with them, egg box bugs and pollinators and also help to create a very hungry caterpillar.

This will be fun for all, but might get a little messy (so old clothes might be best).

Hand Bell Ringers

August 27, 2019 //  by Caroline Smith//  Leave a Comment

A handbell is rung by grasping it by the handle and moving the wrist, causing the clapper inside (which is on a hinge) to strike the outside of the bell, producing the sound. … Ringers can then put down and pick up bells as they are needed, and they can also use the tables themselves to create other effects.

Bells are polished frequently and occasionally sent back to their makers for tune-ups (literally) that involve grinding small bits of bronze from the bell to maintain the proper sounding pitch and overtones. But the primary way to keep bells safe from tarnish is to wear gloves when handling them.

Come and see the Lindfield Handbell Ringers again.

Giles Paley-Philips, Superchimp

August 25, 2019 //  by Caroline Smith//  Leave a Comment

Book now

Superchimp is the hero of the rainforest. He spends his days rescuing baby parrots from trees and hippos who are stuck in the mud – no job is too big or too small for Superchimp. He even wears a cool cape, and rides around in a chimpmobile! But despite his bravery, even Superchimp gets scared sometimes… although the person he is most afraid of is not as terrifying as you might think!

When Mum bellows at Superchimp to tell him it’s time to come home, he obediently obeys. It seems Superchimp can be a superhero just as long as he doesn’t upset his Mum and is home in time for tea – which is a lesson any child should know! A tounge-in-cheek way to introduce the topics of helping others, overcoming your fears and understanding rules.

Giles Paley-Phillips, is the award winning author of The Fearsome Beastie, winner of The People’s Book Prize 2012, Heart of Hawick Children’s Book Award 2013, Bizziebaby Gold

He enjoys writing and drawing and listening to music from the 1960s.Karl is the creator of The Mudwaffler – a small, forest dwelling bear who reviews books. Catch him at www.Mudwaffler.com!
