Colouring Competition

March 11, 2019 //  by Caroline Smith//  Leave a Comment

This year we are hosting a colouring competition! We are inviting all residents of Mid Sussex under the age of 12 to show off their artistic talents and get a chance to win prizes!

Contestants can choose to colour in the image of either Luke or Lucy, which were designed by the winner of the 2018 Lindfield Arts Festival Bursary, Tom Mackewn.

The competition has three different age categories; under 5’s, 5-7 and 8-11. The winner of each category will be chosen by the winner of the 2019 Lindfield Arts Festival Bursary alongside a Lindfield Arts Festival Trustee. The winners will each receive a prize of vouchers to a local craft shop to continue to encourage their artistic talents!

Contestants can either download the pictures of Luke or Lucy from the links below to print out and colour in or they can pick them up in person from the Lindfield Arts Festival Stand on The Common on Village Day, the 1st of June 2019. Entries can be submitted in person to our Village Day Stand or they can be sent in the post to: Lindfield Arts Festival Competition, 1 Pine Cottage, Pondcroft Road, Lindfield RH16 2HQ. The closing date for entries is the 3rd of June 2019 and the winners will be contacted after this date, before the winning entries are then posted on our website.

Good luck and get colouring!

Giant 18ft Tree Man at Lindfield Arts Festival!

February 18, 2019 //  by Caroline Smith//  Leave a Comment

Move over Stick Man with your stick Lady Love and your stick children three. This autumn it’s all about Arbor the colossal tree man! This sky-scraping walkabout puppet is part man, part tree and towers over you at 18ft tall!

Follow him as he strides between the trees and emerges with his cart full of tree saplings. Arbor tells the story of a tree pushed from his home and his fight to preserve his future. You’ll learn how Arbor came to be thanks to amazing puppetry and beautiful visual storytelling. This special LAF family-friendly event will encourage the audience to plant and nurture their own trees. Arbor will give each family a native tree sapling to take home, leaving a legacy that will last for generations.

Part man, part tree and 18 feet tall. Meet Arbor. Follow Arbor as he strides around, vanishing between trees and emerging with his cart full of tree saplings. Encouraging the audience to plant and nurture their own trees, Arbor will give each family a sapling to take home, leaving a legacy that will last for generations. It was a really nice touch that they hand out saplings to children at the end, it gives them something sustainable and environmental to think about. Applications are Open

January 3, 2019 //  by Lynn//  Leave a Comment

It’s  the 10th Anniversary this year, and Lindfield Arts Festival is already proving to be bigger and better than ever before. For a start, we will have events running from Monday 16th September right through to Sunday 22nd September. There will plenty of performances, activities and workshops for all ages.

And if you want to be part of the festival, now is the time to apply. At the same time, we are looking for Bursary applications for this year’s £1000 award. Express your interest. Our 2018 winner Tom Mackewn is currently designing our #LAF2019 image which we will publicise shortly.

Applications are now welcomed for performers, bands, poets, actors, artists, crafts people, entertainers, authors, workshop leaders and more.  Please read the Terms & Conditions before completing the relevant survey form. We want to hear from you.

We have some innovative attractions to whet your appetite for #LAF2019. For example the Arbor Man will encourage you, as the audience, to plant and nurture your own trees: Arbor will give each family a sapling to take home, leaving a legacy that will last for generations.

Certainly an excellent reason to put 21st September 2019 in your diary.  See video below.

The image is from the #LAF2011 festival when Fun Pots ran a design your own tile workshop for children and we made a plaque that was subsequently donated to the King Edward Hall as a lasting legacy.
